Itinerary of the Baltic States Tour
DAY 1 (Sunday) Arrival in Vilnius
Arrival in Vilnius, optional transfer to Hotel Radisson Blu Lietuva**** or similar, check-in, welcome meeting.
DAY 2 (Monday) Vilnius
Vilnius is known for its more than 1200 medieval buildings and 48 churches. The morning sightseeing tour includes a panoramic tour of the city and a walking tour of the Old Town including Vilnius Cathedral, Gediminas Tower, Peter and Paul Church, St. Anne’s Church, Old University and the Gates of Dawn. The afternoon offers an optional excursion to Trakai, the medieval capital of Lithuania with the well preserved Trakai Castle, beautifully located on an island in Lake Galve. In the evening enjoy an optional folklore dinner at Restaurant Belmontas.
DAY 3 (Tuesday) Vilnius to Riga
Heading for Riga, the first stop is the ‘Hills of Crosses’, one of the most holy sites of Catholic Lithuania. After crossing into Latvia, we soon reach the magnificent Rundale Palace,the former summer residence of the Duke of Courland. Following a guided tour of the palace we travel through the rolling hills of Southern Latvia to reach Riga late afternoon, check-in at the Wellton Riverside Hotel **** or similar
DAY 4 (Wednesday) Riga
Morning dedicated to the guided tour of Riga. The historic center is located on the right side of the Daugava river and includes several typical buildings from the medieval period. During the visit you will admire, among other things, the Castle, the Cathedral, the Church of St. Peter and the monument of Liberty. In the afternoon we propose a visit (optional) of Jurmala. Jurmala is the largest and the most popular Latvian seaside resort (33 kilometers of white sandy beach). The town is also famous for its Spa centers thanks to its natural resources (water and healing mud) and for the typical wooden buildings that date back to the 19th century. For the music lovers, in the evening there will be an organ concert at the Riga Cathedral (optional). Overnight.
DAY 5 (Thursday) Riga
The day's program includes two optional excursions. In the morning there will be a visit (optional) to Sigulda, located in the Gauja National Park with a visit to the ruins of the Episcopal Castle of Turaida and the Castle of the Knights of the Swordtail. Founded in 1973, the Gauja National Park covers an area of 91,745 square meters with beautiful forests interspersed with rivers and lakes. With around 900 species of plants, 149 types of birds and 48 varieties of wild animals, it is a true paradise for nature lovers. The castle of Turaida, a living example of the medieval period, is characteristic for its red brick construction and for its tower from which one can enjoy a breathtaking view over the valley of the Gauja river. In the afternoon we offer an optional visit to the Riga Motor Museum which has the largest collection of vintage vehicles from the Baltic countries, including a Stalin Limousine weighing 7 tons. For those interested in tasting the local gastronomy, we propose a dinner (optionally) at the restaurant "Forest”. Overnight.
DAY 6 (Friday) Riga to Tallinn
The tour continues along the coastal highway to the Estonian summer resort of Pärnu. We do a short tour of the resort before we continue through the North Estonian land of forests and arrive in Tallinnn early afternoon. Check-in at the Hotel Radisson Blu Olümpia**** or similar.
DAY 7 (Saturday) Tallinn
Tallinn is a charming blend of medieval tranquillity and modern urban life. The medieval Old Town is a busy place in the summer with its many shops, galleries, souvenir markets, outdoor cafes and restaurants. The sightseeing tour takes us around the old medieval city walls and into the Old Town where we see Toompea Castle, the Dome Church, Alexander Nevsky Cathedral,medieval Old Town Hall and Great Guild Hall.In the afternoon an optional excursion is offered to Kadriorg Park and visit to KUMU, the award-winning new Estonian art museum, with its collections of classic and contemporary masterworks. The evening offers an optional medieval dinner at Restaurant Maikrahv.
DAY 8 (Sunday) Departure from Tallinn
